RIP Marine Raiders
RIP History

In 1999, I was invited to begin using the [RIP] tag. The clan consisted of a small group of players, personal friends and family. Members such as: Doc, Argos, and Skymaster. I am not the founder of RIP, however I am the longest standing member of the original few.

As Counter-Strike became more popular, sometime in the year 2000, more personal friends began to come onboard. Members such as: Sir DiesAlot, Roco, Blue Knight, and Princess Frag. At the time, RIP represented "Rest in Pieces". The early years of RIP was mainly a tag before a name. It was merely symbolic, that those of us that wore the RIP tag were friends, co-workers, and family. It wasn't until late in the year 2000, that I wanted to see the clan grow from just a name, to a clan that represented more than just a tag in a game server. I began to research Counter-Strike clans, organize some ideas, and developed what I thought would be a strong foundation. Part of that strong foundation was to establish a leadership, a democracy of which all important decisions for the future of our clan would take place. The RIP Charter was established.

With the governing body in place, we now needed a place on the World Wide Web to call home. A website domain was purchased, and I began the process of putting our clan online. www.rip2001.com.

Although the origins of RIP precede 2001, it was not until 2001, that RIP evolved into a clan with structure, and in many cases with meaning. [RIP] was changed to |RIP| and the name was changed to Radically Insane Police.

With our website in place, the RIP Charter began the process of establishing our new way of life. Ultimately we felt that the best way to achieve success was to adapt a successful system. Ultimately we decided that a mix of military and police organization was best. Utilizing that as a base, we began to create our standard operating procedures.

We developed a set of rules that governed everything from new recruits, conduct, and in some cases, when needed, discipline. We now had a foundation, a governing body, and an operating procedure.

Overtime, we lost members for various reasons, and gained members as well. We continued to shape and mold our clan into what we felt best represented our character. With our RIP Charter, we made decisions for the betterment of the clan, and hoped that we were making a place that was above and beyond the average team. We wanted a place where we could play Counter-Strike with others who held our same ideas of good clean game play. We also take pride in our honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship and feel that these are goals to continually strive for. And most importantly, we were trying to learn from our mistakes, for a better future. Ideas, suggestions, and opinions from our members are equally important in meeting these goals.

As we grew, we started to bring in new members, such as: Logan, Joey Bag of Donuts, Kodiac, SSG French, WalkerTR, and Blissful. And just prior to this, we also purchased our first server, a place that we could play and always know that our ideals and way of playing the game would be enforced, and enjoyed. Our server - RIP Insane Asylum.

Practices began to take shape, and soon we entered our first CS league. Over time, we grew from just a CS team and expanded into Day of Defeat. In May of 2003, I resigned as CS Team Leader and began to recruit for a DOD Team. In my place, Diego assumed the Team Lead role for CS, so that I could concentrate on the new team.

Our DOD Team has adopted and shares the same structure as our CS Team, both teams are governed by the Clan Council. Of the original DOD Team, we have members like: Skymaster, Blue Knight, Red Scorp, Boomer, Boris Sery, and SniperRecon. Some may go, some may stay, but RIP always remains.
We take pride in our past, and look forward to our future.

Sadly, our Counter-Strike division has since disbanded, leaving only Day of Defeat.  Our CS Team is gone, but the memory of that team and its members will be remembered.

We are most always looking for members that share our ideas of game play, and welcome you to our clan if you are looking for a home. See you in the game.
